Tony played with Van Morrision from 1973 to '74. Van taught him to appreciate, among other things, sponteneity and creativity. Recordings of Tony with Van during this time can be found on Morrison's recent Philosopher Stone CD (wherein Tony's last name is mispelled "Day").

Tony has been influenced by virtually every style of music. "I get off on a Polka band just as much as I would a country or a funk band," he says. Tony's most influencial teachers and musicians have been George Marsh and Karl Perrazo, as well as blues artists Michael Bloomfield and Nick Gravantes.
